Our top Summer lashing tips! ☀️💗🍉

Summer is here and as much as we love the heat, warmer temps and humidity can wreak havoc on your glue, your retention, and honestly – your mood.
So, if you’re sweating your way through lash sets or finding your glue drying faster than usual, here are my go-to summer survival tips for lash techs!
1. Ventilate Your Lash Room 🪟
I know you might think its obvious, but seriously – keep the air moving. Open windows first thing to let some fresh air in before it gets too warm outside. If you’re in a space without windows, invest in a good-quality fan or portable air conditioner. I know it is an investment but this will be super helpful and it can be used every year throughout summer. Trust me it will make your life so much easier.
2. Monitor Your Humidity and Temperature 🌡️
Your lash glue is sensitive to heat and humidity, so use a thermometer and hydrometer to keep an eye on it! If your lash room starts to feel like a greenhouse, your glue might start drying too quickly or behave unpredictably.
In the hotter months, I switch to slower-drying glues like Maxi Bond or That’s Hot! These glues have a slightly slower drying time than our others.

Don’t forget to adjust your glue based on your room conditions, not just the season!
3. Clean Lashes = Better Retention 🫧
Summer means more sweat, more oil, more SPF. If you’re not cleansing properly, don’t be surprised if those lashes pop off earlier than usual.
Use a gentle lash bath and a thorough primer before every set to get rid of residue. This will help the bond between the adhesive and the natural lash be stronger, meaning longer lasting lashes!
4. Use a Sealant ✨
A sealant works like a 'top coat' for your lashes, protecting the glue from grease, sweat, oils etc which can cause the glue to break down. It also improves the elasticity of the glue, making them lashes less likely to 'pop off' when being brushed and cleaned.
5. Lash Fan = Game Changer 🧊
If you haven't already seen.. we have just released the CUTEST fans just in time for summer. A good lash fan is one of the best little tools to have on hand. Not only does it help with glue curing, so no more watery eyes, it can be used to keep you or your client cool and comfy during the appointment.
6. Adjust Your Schedule (If You Can) ⏰
If you're melting by 2pm, maybe it’s time to shift your day a little. Earlier mornings or later evening appointments can be a lot cooler – and honestly, your glue will thank you.
7. Client Aftercare = Extra Important ‼️
Make sure your clients know how to care for their lashes in the heat – things like:
-
Avoid steam rooms, saunas, or super hot showers
-
Use oil-free SPF around the eyes
-
Cleanse with lash-safe cleansers
-
Don’t rub or wipe sweaty eyes
You could even pop together a little summer aftercare card to give them post-appointment – thoughtful AND helpful!
Hot weather doesn’t have to mean bad retention or stressful appointments. With a few tweaks to your routine and some smart product swaps, you can breeze through summer like the lash pro you are.
